The Writing Workshop

I started teaching my writing workshop in 2020, shortly after publishing my first book, Not a Cookbook. I was getting so many questions about how to make a book from start to finish that I started to gather people on Zoom.

My workshop is three months long. We meet three times each week by Zoom. The weekday sessions are lessons and coaching, helping you organize, strategize and make progress within your book project. The third session, the weekend session, is a writing sprint, where you work on your book independently within the group.

I call this workshop “Three Gifts,” because I aim to give creative people three gifts: a place to declare a project, a place to work on that project, and a place to always return to. That’s why it’s cyclical. There’s always a next one to join, and many of the writers do, which leads to a community.

My dream is that I will leave behind a world in which every person has this kind of instant and intimate support for a creative project they are starting. I am currently working to model this workshop in a modular learning curriculum, and am really excited about that after doing a training of my intended format recently in another discipline and absolutely loving it.

I highly encourage you to join the next workshop, which begins

  • July 1 - Sept 1 Cohort

    Dates:

    July 1 - Sept 1, 2025

    Description:

Come write your book. You could be revisiting a project, starting from scratch, or wanting a community to help you move along at a swifter pace and with more ease and joy.

It could be a children’s book, a sets of essays, s book of poems, a memoir, a non-fiction book, or anything else. Beware of finding reasons to count yourself out. Take a shot and see yourself and the project emerge.

Writing a book is a psychological and spiritual endeavor, even though it is also tactical. I work with you through the many bumps, and you’ll see other writers sharing freely and openly.

For three months, you’re supported with three one-hour weekly sessions by Zoom where I help you project manage, meet goals, make a marketing plan, grow as a person, and very much write, edit, and build a book.

    The Schedule:

    8am PT (11am ET) Tuesdays

    9am PT (Noon ET) Saturdays

How people talk about The Writing Workshop

“I describe it as a healing class where I am continuing to learn more about myself. It’s a class I get so much out of.”

“Uplifting and motivating safe space to hold with like minded people aiming to create something amazing.”

“My writing habit has gotten better, I have trouble with being overwhelmed easily when it comes to writing, but being in this cohort helps me feel more grounded and get my fingers moving on the keyboard.”

“The blend of practical and soulful. The genuine support/celebration when goals are reached. Publishing my book never felt like an available reality before this workshop — now it feels very real.”

“When I’m not in a cohort I feel less seen and held. Writing is hard enough as a solitary act. It’s harder when you don’t feel seen in your heart/spirit.”

“One of the main benefits that class provides me is accountability. This is hugely important, the idea that there are others outside of myself that care about whether I succeed at a goal makes a huge difference.”

“I personally feel more energetic and happier when in the workshop. Working with Marguerite’s upbeat and enthusiastic presence is a natural antidepressant. The participating individuals are also talented and committed to their writing projects, elevating the caliber of the overall cohort.”

“Benefits that the class give me are writing and mindful exercises. My life is different when I’m in the cohort because I write more and am more into my writing goal. When I’m not in the cohort, I go back to just journaling.”
